I am Dr. Rania Kassir, a speech-language therapist, specialist in neuropsychology and clinical neuroscience, researcher, and founder of Happy Brain Training, an educational initiative dedicated to helping therapists and healthcare professionals understand and use generative artificial intelligence responsibly, critically and effectively.

My clinical and academic background

My work lies at the intersection of speech-language therapy, neuropsychology, clinical neuroscience and generative AI. For more than ten years, I have worked in clinical, academic and research environments with children, adolescents and adults presenting with communication, language, learning and cognitive difficulties. Today, I combine this clinical and scientific background with expertise in generative AI and prompt engineering to help healthcare professionals integrate emerging AI tools into their practice while keeping what matters most at the centre: clinical reasoning, human expertise, ethics and professional responsibility.

I hold a Master's degree in Neuropsychology and Clinical Neurosciences from Lyon, France, and a PhD in Clinical Neurosciences, with research conducted between France and Lebanon. My scientific work has focused on areas including language, bilingualism, executive functions, neurological disorders, aphasia, stroke and neurodegenerative diseases. Alongside my clinical and research activities, I trained and became certified in prompt engineering and generative artificial intelligence. I am also involved in the scientific and professional development of speech-language therapy, including through my role as Chair of the Neurology Committee of the Lebanese Association of Speech-Language Therapists.

This multidisciplinary background allows me to approach artificial intelligence not only from a technological perspective, but from the perspective of a clinician. For me, the important questions are not simply: What can AI do? They are also: Is the information reliable? Is it clinically relevant? Is it safe? How should it be verified? And where should human expertise remain essential?

The origin story

Why I created Happy Brain Training

Generative AI is rapidly changing the way we search for information, create resources, communicate, teach and organise our work. But knowing that tools such as ChatGPT exist is very different from knowing how to use them well in a healthcare context. I created Happy Brain Training because I wanted to make generative AI understandable, practical and genuinely useful for therapists, without losing sight of scientific rigor, confidentiality, ethics and clinical responsibility.

My goal is not to teach professionals to replace their expertise with AI. It is to teach them how to use AI as a tool that supports their expertise. Through Happy Brain Training, I help professionals understand what generative AI can do, where its limitations are, how to communicate effectively with these systems, and how to remain critical of the information they produce.

Built for clinicians

Generative AI training designed for therapists

One of the challenges with many general AI courses is that they are not designed around the realities of healthcare and therapeutic practice. Happy Brain Training was created specifically with therapists in mind. My trainings are aimed at professionals including speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, neuropsychologists, psychomotor therapists and other rehabilitation and allied health professionals.

Depending on the training, participants may learn how to use generative AI to:

The objective is not simply to learn how to obtain a better answer from an AI system. It is to develop the skills required to use these tools with judgment.

A core specialty

Prompt engineering for healthcare professionals

A large part of my work focuses on prompt engineering applied to healthcare and therapeutic practice. The quality of an AI-generated answer depends strongly on the quality of the instructions provided. I teach professionals how to structure prompts by clearly defining the objective, clinical context, relevant patient characteristics, input data, constraints, quality criteria and expected output. This can completely change the usefulness and reliability of the result.

At the same time, prompt engineering is not a substitute for clinical knowledge. A technically well-written prompt can still generate an incorrect answer. This is why I always teach prompting together with critical thinking, verification and human supervision.

Non-negotiable principles

A responsible approach to AI in healthcare

Healthcare professionals work with sensitive information and, often, with vulnerable populations. Generative AI therefore requires more caution than many everyday uses of artificial intelligence. Responsible use is a central part of every Happy Brain Training programme.

Confidentiality and data protection

Patient-identifiable information and sensitive health data should not be entered into generative AI systems without an appropriate legal, technical and organisational framework.

Human verification

Generative AI can produce information that sounds convincing while being incomplete, inaccurate or entirely fabricated — every output should be verified before professional use.

Clinical responsibility

AI can support certain parts of professional work, but it does not carry clinical responsibility. The therapist remains responsible for decisions and quality of care.

Bias

AI systems may reproduce biases related to language, culture, gender or the data on which they were trained — particularly relevant with multilingual, multicultural populations.

Transparency and traceability

Professionals should be able to identify which information came from their own expertise and which was generated or supported by an AI system.

Human oversight

Generative AI should not independently determine diagnoses, treatment decisions or other high-impact clinical decisions — these remain the clinician's responsibility.

Working across borders

An international perspective

Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to train, collaborate with and exchange with therapists and healthcare professionals across different countries, including France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, India, Latvia, Canada and the United States. Working with professionals from such different clinical, cultural and regulatory environments has been particularly enriching. It has also reinforced something I strongly believe in: there is no single way to integrate generative AI into healthcare practice. The way we use AI needs to take into account the profession, the clinical setting, the population, the language, local regulations and, most importantly, the professional's own clinical judgment.

This international dimension is an important part of Happy Brain Training. It allows me to continuously adapt my trainings to what therapists are actually experiencing in the field while bringing together scientific evidence, practical applications and responsible use of generative AI.

My guiding philosophy

Science first, technology with purpose

Artificial intelligence evolves extremely quickly. Clinical practice requires considerably more caution. For this reason, I aim to continuously connect technological innovation with scientific evidence, professional recommendations, ethical frameworks and real clinical needs.

I believe therapists should not simply become users of artificial intelligence. They should understand how these systems work, recognise their limitations, evaluate their outputs critically and remain fully in control of how technology enters their professional practice. AI should support the clinician, not replace the clinician.

That is the philosophy behind Happy Brain Training: helping therapists use generative AI with greater knowledge, efficiency, creativity and responsibility.
