About the founder
                   Dr. Rania Kassir

Dr. Rania Kassir is a speech and language therapist with a master’s degree in neuropsychology and clinical neuroscience and a PhD in clinical neuroscience. As both a clinician and researcher, she combines a passion for scientific discovery with hands-on therapeutic expertise.

A Vision for the Future of Therapy

Dr. Kassir’s journey with Generative AI stemmed from a critical need in her practice. She realized there was no established pathway for therapists to ethically and effectively harness this transformative technology. Motivated by personal experience and professional necessity, she saw the immense potential of generative AI to:

  • Automate repetitive tasks, creating more time to focus on clients.
  • Streamline workflows for greater efficiency.
  • Ensure therapists remain at the forefront of innovation, using ethical and practical applications of AI to improve client outcomes.

With no clear roadmap in this emerging field, Dr. Kassir took it upon herself to pioneer the development of tools, frameworks, and trainings tailored specifically for therapists. Her work focuses on bridging the gap between innovation and practical, client-centered care.

At Happy Brain Training, we’re honored to have empowered therapists from around the world. Our innovative and practical training programs have helped professionals in various fields transform their practices. Here’s what therapists have shared about their journey with us:

FAQ

What is AI training in healthcare?

AI training in healthcare helps healthcare professionals understand and apply artificial intelligence tools in clinical practice. These programmes teach practical AI skills, ethical considerations, workflow optimisation, and real-world healthcare applications. At Happy Brain Training, healthcare professionals learn how to integrate AI responsibly while maintaining high standards of patient care.

How can generative AI help therapists in clinical practice?

Generative AI tools — such as ChatGPT, Mistral, Claude, Gemini, or other conversational assistants — can help therapists create therapy resources, patient education materials, treatment ideas, documentation templates, and administrative content. When used appropriately, with systematic review, critical judgment, and clinical responsibility retained by the professional, these tools can save time, improve productivity, and support clinical workflows, without ever replacing clinical judgment or the therapeutic relationship.

What are the best AI tools available today for speech-language therapists (orthophonists)?

The market now offers several categories of generative AI tools — such as ChatGPT, Mistral, Claude, Gemini, and other conversational assistants — as well as more specialised solutions built on the same technology. These include clinical documentation assistants (report writing, assessment summaries), customisable therapy-material generators tailored to age and target disorder, automated speech and language transcription and analysis tools, teletherapy platforms with built-in AI features, and general-purpose conversational assistants used more broadly for session preparation or content simplification. This market evolves quickly and no single tool fits every need: we invite each professional to evaluate solutions against the criteria presented in the next question before integrating any tool into their practice.

What should I look for before choosing an AI tool for clinical practice?

Before adopting an AI tool, check several essentials: compliance with data protection regulation (GDPR and, where applicable, health-data hosting requirements); where the data is actually stored, ideally within the EU/EEA; the vendor's transparency about how submitted data is used, including whether it trains third-party models; built-in human oversight, since the tool should never replace clinical judgment or enable unsupervised diagnostic automation; the ability to anonymise data before entry; and traceability of use. These checks now sit within a stronger regulatory framework, covered in the next question.

What is ethical AI in healthcare and why is it important?

Ethical AI in healthcare means using artificial intelligence responsibly: protecting patient privacy, ensuring transparency about how tools work, limiting algorithmic bias, and upholding professional confidentiality. It also means clinical decisions always remain the responsibility of the healthcare professional, with AI acting only as support. Understanding these principles helps professionals use AI safely, meet current regulatory obligations, and maintain patients' trust.

How can I protect patient data confidentiality and stay compliant with current regulation?

The regulatory framework for AI in healthcare tightened significantly in 2026. Since 2 August 2026, the EU AI Act's transparency obligations apply: patients must be able to know when they are interacting with an AI system, and AI-generated or AI-modified content must be identifiable as such. The stricter obligations for high-risk AI systems (which include some healthcare uses) were postponed to 2 December 2027 for standalone systems, extra time meant to prepare for compliance, not to delay it. In France, a decree dated 24 March 2026 also strengthened health-data hosting rules: from 27 September 2026, health data must be stored exclusively within the EU/EEA, and any remote access from a third country must rely on an adequacy decision or GDPR-compliant safeguards specified in the hosting contract. In practice, before entering identifiable patient data into any AI tool, clinicians should check where the data is hosted, who can access it, and whether the vendor meets these requirements. Rules vary by country of practice; when in doubt, consult a data protection officer or specialised lawyer, as this answer is informational, not legal advice.

How is AI used in occupational therapy?

AI in occupational therapy can help therapists develop intervention plans, generate home programmes, create patient resources, streamline documentation, and support clinical decision-making. AI tools can save time and improve productivity while enhancing patient-centred care.

What will I learn in an AI in healthcare online course?

An AI in healthcare online course typically covers the fundamentals of generative AI, through tools such as ChatGPT, prompt engineering, ethical and regulatory guidelines, including GDPR and the EU AI Act, clinical workflow optimisation, patient communication strategies, and real-world healthcare use cases. The goal is to help professionals use AI with confidence and discernment in their daily practice, in line with current regulation.

If I use a different AI than ChatGPT, does what I learn in training still apply?

Yes, absolutely. The training focuses on the transferable principles and skills of generative AI, a technology shared across all the tools currently on the market (ChatGPT, Mistral, Claude, Gemini, and others). What mainly differs from one tool to another is the interface and some settings; the skills practised in training, such as prompt formulation, critical appraisal of generated output, the ethical and regulatory framework, and integration into clinical workflow, remain valid whichever conversational assistant you use.
